This website is the result of around 4 years of procrastination while I attempted to do something about the large number of photographs accumulating on increasingly large hard disks. It is still very much a work in progress but at least I now have some way of showing a few photos to other people. I hope this site will get seen by like-minded folk who share a passion for colour, contrast, light, wildlife, landscapes, as well as the ocean and everything in it. As and when I have time (and if people seem to be looking at the site) I will be adding more features including a forum and possibly videos.

The Gallery

The images contained in the collection in some way document the past 5 years of my life and work as a marine ecologist (among other things) living in various parts of the world. They are presented in numerous categories and, where relevant common and scientific names, but in no particular order. Where possible I have tried to write mini-stories or at least provide some basic information about the content of each image or set of images, but this is a work in progress. The gallery currently contains 291 images.

I've selected a number of my favourite images as examples for fine art prints. Prints are for sale at a number of sizes (not including the frame) using archival pigment inks and archival paper.

Photoshop Tips

Until fairly recently most forms of digital enhancement were frowned upon by many photographers. Nowadays however it seems a certain amount of subtle manipulation is acceptable and, as far as I know, used by the majority of photographers. True, a perfectly exposed photograph should really need no digital adjustment, but there is usually always a way to improve on what appears perfect. This is a continually growing section where I describe a number of simple techniques that can be used to subtly correct or enhance your photos using Adobe Photoshop.
